In addition to Terra Incognita, the 2011 Incheon Woman Artists’ Biennial (IWAB) showcases the exhibition In the Wake of 2013 in its Tuning section. The exhibition addresses what it means to criticize. What constitutes a critical action? What are its conditions, components, and purposes? The exhibition also explores questions related to the necessity of gender-centric exhibitions, the power of (or the disenchantment with) art that instigates political change and social transformation, and to local Korean perspectives on social repositionings in globalism’s wake. In the Wake of 2013 revolves around the meaning of critical resistance?its mechanics and motivations, its practical and ideological values?by providing a venue for significant projects by artists, curators, and writers from around the world, many realized specifically for this exhibition.

Korea and Spain on the Internet”

2012 Cultural exchange Exhibition between Korea and Spain

 nhnsvcspain

  • Brief description of the Project

Curator Jimin Song mostly organizes an international exhibition, because she likes to present new things in another country to culturally exchange. At the same time, she tries to send her own message trough her exhibition. So for her, “Exhibition” is a formless materiel to share and communicate her own idea and as artist by other artists’ works.

This exhibition she organizes this time is a cultural exchange Exhibition between South Korea and Spain. It is an exhibition to have a cultural exchange between two countries, especially comics but also to throw a question to public about “How close can we get to a fact just by internet, which is quite main way today to get information.

So we will approach this question with eight artists. Four Korean and four Spanish comic artists, who will draw their own stories about one of each country without having real contact while just staying on line in their countries as follows,.

-Korean artists After research about Spain on internet, then during 3 months, create one comic on A3 papers

-Spanish artists After research about South Korea on internet, then during 3 months, create one comic on A3 papers.

Jimin Song will gather these drawings 6 month later then opens an exhibition for one month in a gallery of M** (near to Seoul) and in The Korean C**f Madrid. During this exhibition, we will organize a performance and an artist’s talk on the exhibition’s theme to enrich this project with the other discipline.

Please give us your interest and support.

Criticism by David Rosenberg (FR)
